Today we drove down to Bern, Switzerland knowing we were going to be Couchsurfing with a guy named Rafael. We got to town around 1 p.m. and made our first stop at the main train station to get a map of the area and buy our tickets for Lichtenstein, Austria, and Germany. Once our mission was accomplished, we wandered around town and checked out the shops, clock towers, fountains, older parts of town, found Albert Einsteins house, and also walked down to the Albert Einstein Museum to check out the exhibit. It turned out to be quite educational in the sense of understanding his childhood, university education, and the theories he hypothesized and tested. In addition to this, there was a lot of information on Judaism as well as World War I and II.
After wandering around we found our car and headed to Rafael's flat to meet him. He lives about a 20 minute walk from the main part of town in a little neighborhood with a few bars and restaurants. He cooked us dinner and we hung out and chatted with him and his roommate for quite a while before heading down to a bar to have a few drinks. We met a couple of his friends there and sat around joking about American politics, phrases, and the like. All in all, great night.
Time for bed...early morning to head to Interlaken!
