We got up on Monday morning and headed to Byron Bay, which is about 30-45 minutes south of Gold Coast. It's a quaint little town with lots of great restaurants and shops that brings all different types of people from surfers to hippies to seachange (Australian term for older people that move from inland to the ocean cities). The beaches are pretty, the bluffs have amazing overlooks, and the homes are beautiful.
We got coffee and the most amazing muffin I have ever had from a place called Twisted Sista and then we wandered through town shopping and hiked up to the various lookout points and the light house. After spending a few hours there we drove to Brunswick to have lunch at the Brunswick Hotel, which had great food and atmosphere. I will definitely be back to visit both places on my next trip out here.
